Louise Newman began her studies at San Jose State University, California. After returning to Ireland in 1992 she went on to receive a National Diploma & Degree in Fine Art from I.A.D.T. She has exhibited her work nationwide and is recognised as an artist to look out for in the future. Her work has developed into an abstract impressionistic style, resonating "Essence of Place" be it metaphysical or referential. Her present work has come about through a Residency where she spent time at The Cill Rialaig Project in Co.Kerry. These particular paintings were inspired by reflections, water and the vast skies over Ballinskellig. The assured use of texture and mark making act as a delightful foil to the transparency and colour of the light. It is her intention to continue to be informed by her observations and feelings about which surrounds her, both visibly and metaphysically. Her work maintains a fresh and honest expression.changing and developing in new ways whilst encouraging a meaningful dialogue with the viewer. Louise appeared on R.T.E. OPEN HOUSE in collaboration with Irish Arts Review Emerging Artist of the Year Competition 2004 and her work was highlighted at the Eigse Carlow Arts Festival in 2005. Her work can be found in many private and public collections including Bank of Ireland, Ministry of Defence, Irish Credit Unions, the European Patent Office, Munich.and Flynn Group Hotels.
